Volunteering – European solidarity corps

The volunteering project of DZMP – Youth & Media Engagement – offers young people the possibility to develop their skills and knowledge in socially engaged filmmaking and film pedagogy as well as to contribute to the development of the local community in the Krško area. The project is designed with the understanding that the development of new technologies and of the participatory practices of “social media” has profoundly altered the relation of young people to the world, each other, and communication practices. Youth & Media Engagement volunteering project aims at providing young people with the possibility to reach a wider audience to present their visions of society, culture, politics, everyday life and to claim their right to form the media landscape of our societies.

 

The project is designed in a way to allow young people with different backgrounds, knowledge, and skillsets to work together on socially significant topics by their choice by making short videos and films for the monthly Youth Show (Mladinska oddaja) published on Luksuz produkcija Youtube channel. By making short videos and films youngsters develop skills and knowledge in film & video-making, journalism, communication, and intercultural management alongside making new friendships, forming collectives, and building communities of the future.

 

Volunteers coming to DZMP can join the project via European Solidarity Corps EU initiative for youngsters who feel the need to contribute their time and knowledge to the development and support of the communities and individuals across Europe. Alongside personal growth through participation in various learning activities, volunteers of the project get support in co-mentoring film and media workshops for youngsters as well as in organizing cultural events such as film projections, live talks, and Q&A with the film professionals.

What the project has to offer:

  • DIY film production with a strong emphasis on documentary film and social topics;
  • Film pedagogy and work with children and youngsters
  • Volunteering at the annual Luksuz Cheap Film Festival;
  • Participation at the annual International Documentary Film Workshop DoKKu;
  • Workshops, lectures, and discussions on film and film pedagogy work with youngsters and representatives of sensitive groups.
  • The international crew of volunteers and film mentors (directors, editors, DOP, sound engineers, etc.)
  • A lot of fun and life-changing experiences.
